A responsible budget isn’t about spending more or less for its own sake — it’s about spending wisely. That means protecting public safety and core services, building healthy reserves, and being honest with residents about where their money goes.

Since being elected in 2022, Jack has helped steer Redding through a budget deficit — the same squeeze facing most California cities. The council commissioned an efficiency study, now being implemented, and is holding many positions vacant to close the gap, all while protecting the services residents count on.
